SHBG is company limited by guarantee and a NFP organisation responsible for managing the development and operation of this local botanic garden. Eight volunteer directors, a part-time CEO and admin officer form the management structure. The major ‘work force’ is the volunteers who attend weekly working bees. Funding for development and operation costs is provided through grants, donations and community fundraising. Major infrastructure work in the garden is undertaken by local trades and funded through grants.
Once fully developed, this garden will provide significant social and economic benefits to the region, contribute to community health and wellbeing and be a major tourist attraction.
The garden offers a landscaped outdoor venue for community events, picnics, family and corporate activities, weddings and more. The soon to be completed Education building will offer an indoor venue with capacity for up to 100 people and can be hired for events, exhibitions, seminars, etc. The building will be fitted with audio visual equipment giving versatility for seminars, presentations, weddings – use your imagination.
The garden welcomes local participation.
